can you see these?

I'm going to use my iPhone this morning -- I think it works now. Samsung/Google isn't reliable, as I know I made many more videos and could see them on the phone... I clicked to send them all to the cloud and waited forever... and then they are not there, as far as I can tell. Although, they looked better than the on the iPhone and it would in theory be faster and they gave me lots of free space to upload... it just isn't working!

here they come... slowly to google cloud

google cloud

I haven't been uploading videos here, instead emailing and texting them individually. However, today I used a Samsung phone and I couldn't get the videos to download directly to my computer, instead they all go to the cloud.

This is annoying in the short run, as the videos would be done by now if I used my iPhone (which is more or less broken due to a tiny bit of humidity, I think, or for no reason). In the long run, however, it might be easier.

I am waiting for the phone to upload. In the meantime I'm posting a link to an old video to verify that the system will work and people can indeed see the videos that get clouded to the cloud autocloudly.

I kind of like not being dependent on the cloud and using my own storage. I kind of like the older operating systems that are not so well tracked and integrated with the internet. I kind of like how in the old days no one else was involved in your own data and you could run your own applications and own them. Anyway, hopefully there will be some cute dogs here soon.

Frogs (peepers) 2015

They are here!

Every year I note the night the peepers, frogs, come out. It's a very clear marker of spring, as all the frogs come out at once -- once one male frog starts singing for a mate, the others come right out and join in so it goes from quiet one night to loud the next night. It is loud right now.

Although it seems like this has been an endless winter, in fact, the frogs came out later last year.

Here are 8 years of first nights.

2015: April 3
2014: April 6
2013: March 30
2012: March 12
2011: March 17

7th annual Christmas Fetch competition

I'm not sure if I video recorded the big fetch competition!

Here are videos of previous years:
http://glencadia.blogspot.com/2013/12/6th-annual-fetch-competition-at.html

I guess I could re-run it tomorrow. I did get the duel, with the best of the small dogs (other than Georgia who doesn't get along with Bella) against the best of the big dogs (except for Mystic who doesn't like Lulu)... and the results are:

CT 2, Brooklyn 1
Brooklyn 3, CT 0 in the duel...

We had to end the fetch competition early because Manhattan (Millie) was not going for the ball but messing with whoever did get it... Interference!

2008: Brooklyn 5, Manhattan 4
2009: Mahattan 5, Westchester 4, Brooklyn 1
2008: Brooklyn 5, Manhattan 4
2007: Manhattan 4, Brooklyn 3
2011? Connecticut? CT 5, Manhattan 2, Westchester 2, Brooklyn 1
2012: forgot to hold competition
2013: Brooklyn 4, Manhattan 3, Up there (Westchester & CT), 1
2014: CT 2, Brooklyn 1

So: Connecticut 2 victories, Brooklyn 3, Manhattan 2
Duels: Brooklyn 1

This video is actually from a couple of days -- you can see the number of dogs increase, if you know what to look for. You will also see some kids recognize certain dogs -- Lulu and Mila. And Louie was nervous at first, then warmed right up, as another theme in the video. Thanks.
